Best app EVER for helping you see what is filling up your drive.
I love this app! it's far and away the best, most intuitive way to figure out what's really clogging up your mac's storage (hard disk, ssd, etc.). The reason why it's so great is that it shows you visually. I have used (and appreciated) apps like whatsize in the past. Whatsize does something similar to grandperspective — you tell it which folder or storage device to analyze, and it comes back with a report about what's taking up all the space in that folder or on that device. But whereas whatsize produces an interactive report in list form, grandperspective shows you visually. The larger the file, the larger the rectangular area of the grandperspective window it takes up. Even with hundreds of thousands of files, it's really simple to see what the storage hogs are. Rolling over any of these rectangles will show you the name of the file, as well as its path (the series of folders you open to find the actual file).
Pros: VISUAL display of the relative sizes of files on the drive
Seems faster than other solutions similar to it
Intuitive to use — just point it at a folder or drive and set it to go. When it's done it just pops up the interactive viewer
It's free!
Easy to find the disk hogs from its intuitive roll-over interactive viewer
Cons: Nothing much — fabulous the way it is
If you INSIST... Would be great if it updated its view in real time, as you deleted files from the drive. But ONLY because you asked.
